Gamma Undecalactone, commonly known as aldehyde C14, was discovered in 1908 and strongly determined the direction in which perfumes of the time followed. The most famous composition in which this molecule is used is the iconic Mitsouko from Guerlain. The characteristic sweet-peach aura that C14 introduces to the composition is hard to replace with other raw materials.
